What Ever Happen to Jazz

Buck Clayton wrote that Duke Ellington threw p...Image via Wikipedia What every happen to the art form known as Jazz? Jazz was an American art form that was heard all over the world. Harlem Renassiance was a great period in Black American history. Jazz in the early 1900's was what hip hop is today. Count Basie Duke Ellington and many others were among some of the greats Jazz musicians in the world.

How did Jazz die? I think with the emergence of other music forms Jazz begin its decline. The corporations never really took Jazz to other heights that it has taken other forms of music. Jazz started die in my opinion when social and economic conditions of black America change for the better and worst.

Hip-Hop Mode Beispiel 2Image via Wikipedia The hip hop culture has created its on fashion community. Many who was born and raised on the hip hop culture was geared toward a certain dress or style from living in the hood. Baggy jeans, tennis shoes, head phones, and baseball caps were and are the dress code for many in the hiphop community. The attitude the swag the style is what most companies have begin using to build there brand inside the corporate culture of hip hop. Hip hop covers many ethincities and these folks have created a fashion statement that most people dare to wear. Black Males in Hip hop

NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 23: (L-R) Musicians Boot...Image by Getty Images via @daylife Black Males in hip hop have been given a bad rap. Many male artist in the hip hop community seems to get stereotyped as men who are loose with women, alcoholics, and unproductive in society. I think that the overall view of hip hop is that black men are worthless. I being an artist myself don't feel like every male inside hip hop is unresponsible. I think most of what the media puts out about hip hop is what the masses see.

Diddy and Dirty Money

We Invented the RemixImage via Wikipedia His first name should be Pitful Diddy instead of P-Diddy. Pitful Diddy always seems to be on a track with a his new artist. Last nights American Music Awards with Diddy was an example of his ego getting in the way. I really think he should have let the girls Dirty Money shine on their on last night without Puffy all over the track still trying to rap. I think I just said a rhyme.. lol, I really don't like how the Bad Boy label executive has help launch careers and then turns around and destroys your shit in a single breath. Dirty Money is the newest R&B group that puffy has planned to push out in the front of the public eye. Danity Caine was his last creation along with the boy band that Diddy screwed both of them over.

I think Puffy Daddy need to sit his ass down some where he still think he is the artist and the label which is a bad thing. Nicki Minaj just fired his ass for bad management. I think the performance last night was a real joke.

Brand Building At Open Mics

Many Artist venture out into the city of Atlanta to become know in world of music mostly R&B and Hiphop. Atlanta music communities has showcase and open mics galore. Every year many artist set out to become known in their city as the guy or gal with hottest songs. Alot of artist have failed to learn how to brand build their name in their niche market or demographics. Branding at open mics take some carefull planning. As an artist myself I took into account that I didn't have any real amount of money to help build my brand in the city of Atlanta. I used a few simple strategies that you yourself can use as well to get you noticed in the big city. First thing you want to do is start out small, and find an area that you can work over and over again wether it be on stage or through promotions.

If you are using the stage as a promotional tool try to find a club that caters more toward showing talent like Apache Cafe rather than a being apart of a musical contest. Many open mic contest really don't allow one to see the true talent of an individual. You don't want to run away from a challenge, but its best when you can get a crowd thats there to see you perform not be in a contest. Building a brand takes time and staying consistent is important if you want to break the yolk inside the atlanta music community.
